Giving Back
The spirit of charity and giving runs strong among West Dundee’s firefighters, in a profession that attracts those who live
to give back to their community. Every year the West Dundee Fire Fighters Association donates money and time to
benefit numerous charities, groups and organizations in the West Dundee area.
To help us better serve you and our community we share, please feel free to join our mission by
participating in our upcoming event.
Annual Turkey Raffle
The West Dundee Fire Department’s first turkey raffle fundraiser was held in 1944 during the height of World War II and produced a profit of $35.31. In this day in age, that may seem like an awful lot of effort for not much return, but things were a little different back then. During that time, West Dundee was only a volunteer fire department and fundraising was a big part of how they were able to operate.
Who would have thought that first turkey raffle would kick start a tradition that continues more than seven decades later.
This tradition continues to grow in popularity year-over-year, bringing all ages out to enjoy a 2-day event featuring food, drinks, prizes and loads of fun, all the while supporting a great cause.
The West Dundee Firefighters Association hopes to continue this tradition for years to come. Nothing will stop us from giving you the event you’ve come to love!
this year's raffle.... november 21 & 22, 2025
Join us for the 81st Annual Turkey Raffle, a proud West Dundee tradition! The West Dundee Firefighters Association invites you to two nights of fun, prizes, and community spirit at the VFW.
If you can’t attend in person, you can still be part of the celebration by purchasing a Turkey Raffle T-shirt or buying tickets online. Your turkey will be donated directly to the F.I.S.H. Food Pantry, helping to provide holiday meals to local families in need — while also supporting the West Dundee Fire Department.
All proceeds from the raffle, turkey donations, and t-shirt sales go toward essential equipment, training, and community programs for the department.
So come on out, grab your tickets, and help us keep this 81-year tradition going strong. Together, we can make this Thanksgiving season one to remember!
We appreciate your continued support — and we can’t wait to see you there!
